In Shimla, a special event was held on Thursday to celebrate the silver jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The historic Ridge Ground was adorned with a remarkable exhibition showcasing modern weapons used by the army.
Local residents and tourists gathered to observe this impressive array, which also featured a performance by the army band. Soldiers displayed cultural and patriotic music, filling the atmosphere with pride and remembrance.
Later in the evening, the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, is scheduled to join a cultural program, set to continue until 7:00 PM. Visitors were particularly drawn to the display that commemorated the brave souls who lost their lives during the Kargil War.
This exhibition not only highlighted the weapons used during the war but also told the heroic stories of our soldiers who fought valiantly against the enemy in Kargil.
Every year on July 26, the nation celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas to honor the victory of the Indian Armed Forces over Pakistan in 1999. The war began on May 3, 1999, in Kargil, Jammu and Kashmir, and concluded with Indian forces achieving victory on July 26 of the same year.
Organized by the Army Training Command, the event aims to showcase the indomitable courage and valor of Indian soldiers. Notably, 57 soldiers from Himachal Pradesh made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War, including four bravehearts from Shimla.
The district administration plans to honor the families of these fallen heroes on July 26.
