Celebrating Raksha Bandhan Today
Today, millions across India are celebrating the festive occasion of Raksha Bandhan. This special day, which occurs on the Sawan full moon, is all about the bond between brothers and sisters.
As part of the tradition, sisters tie a protective thread, known as ‘rakhi’, around their brothers’ wrists while wishing for their well-being and happiness. In return, brothers promise to look after their sisters and often give them gifts.
This year, many people are also considering the auspicious timing for tying the rakhi. According to astrologers, the ideal time started at 1:32 PM today. It’s advised to avoid tying rakhi during Bhadrakal, which is believed to come with challenges.
After Bhadrakal ends, the afternoons become the perfect time for the celebrations. If sisters or brothers couldn’t find time earlier, the evening after sunset is also considered auspicious for tying rakhi.
Sisters prepare for the event by setting up a thali with supplies like roli, kumkum, and sweets, ready to bless their brothers. This day truly emphasizes family love and the protective bond shared between siblings.
