Krishna Janmashtami Celebration

The auspicious Hindu festival known as Krishna Janmashtami, also referred to as Gokulashtami, is set to be celebrated on August 26, 2024. This festival commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu.

Krishna Janmashtami occurs on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha during the Bhadrapad month. This significant occasion is marked by various traditions including fasting, devotional singing, and good deeds.

Devotees often engage in late-night celebrations, as it is believed that Lord Krishna was born at midnight. Special prayers, bhajans (devotional songs), and religious ceremonies are held at this time to honor his birth.

According to Drikpanchang, in the national capital Delhi, the auspicious timings for Krishna Janmashtami are from 12:01 AM to 12:45 AM on August 27, 2024, lasting for a duration of 45 minutes.

One of the key rituals during this festival involves fasting. Many devotees observe a 24-hour fast, which culminates in a midnight feast, referred to as “bhog,” that is offered to Lord Krishna.

As individuals prepare to celebrate this occasion, sharing quotes, wishes, and messages to convey their heartfelt sentiments is a common practice among families.
