Celebrations in Saskatchewan for Canada Day: A Multicultural Affair

The vibrant city of Saskatoon in Saskatchewan is gearing up for a multicultural celebration this Canada Day, with festivities set to be enlivened by the talented Fransaskoise artist Isabelle Mercier. Known for her captivating performances, Mercier is excited to engage with the audience in both English and French, showcasing the diversity of the Canadian linguistic landscape.

Selected by the City of Saskatoon to headline the event, Mercier’s bilingualism played a key role in her appointment, emphasizing the importance of honoring the country’s bilingual character. Reflecting on her past experience at a similar event, Mercier expressed her enthusiasm for connecting with fellow francophone and anglophone artists, highlighting the multiculturalism present in the celebration.

Joining Mercier in Saskatoon’s festivities is Bertrand Giroux, the president of the Fédération des francophones de Saskatoon, further enhancing the event’s diverse lineup. In a separate celebration in Regina, the Association communautaire fransaskoise de Regina hosted a joint event celebrating both Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Canada Day.
