Kelly And Mark Show Flu Shot Episode

On November 18, 2024, audiences of ‘Live with Kelly and Mark‘ were treated to a health-oriented segment where hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, along with their guest, received flu vaccinations live during the morning broadcast. The episode highlighted the importance of influenza vaccinations amidst the current health season.

Esteemed medical professional Dr. Holly Phillips was present to administer the shots and educate viewers on the current «tripledemic season,» a term used to describe the simultaneous occurrence of Covid-19, RSV, and the flu. Dr. Phillips emphasized the necessity of vaccines, stating, «Flu shots are for everyone — even Academy Award nominees.»

Dr. Phillips explained during the segment that while the flu vaccine requires updating each season, taking precautionary measures remains essential. She advised, «You can avoid sickness by handwashing, trying not to breathe on people if you’re sick, and staying home if you can.»

In a lighthearted moment, actor Jeffery Wright was the first to receive his vaccination, earning cheers from the audience as he removed his sweater, showcasing muscular arms which prompted Kelly Ripa to humorously wear it. Ripa jokingly commented on the situation, saying, «This is Academy Award level» in reference to Wright’s acclaimed performance attire.

Following Wright, it was Ripa’s turn. Dr. Phillips enlightened the audience about some minor side effects typical of the flu shot, including soreness or a low-grade fever. She reassured viewers, «Most people are better, give it one day, and you’re back.»

Mark Consuelos expressed his concern over the flutter of the vaccination needle, humorously questioning if individuals who act younger than their age could receive the flu vaccine intended for younger recipients. Despite his nerves, Consuelos humorously asked Ripa for apple juice, revealing his discomfort with needles. He later admitted, «That wasn’t bad at all,» after receiving the shot.
