Central Florida Cold Weather

Central Florida is bracing itself for a significant drop in temperatures as a strong cold front moves through the region this week. Meteorologists predict that the temperatures will plunge to the coldest of the season, bringing a substantial chill to the area.

According to Cam Tran, First Warning Meteorologist at WESH 2 News, by Friday morning, temperatures are expected to feel like 47 degrees Fahrenheit in Orlando, 41 degrees in Ocala, and 42 degrees in The Villages. She noted, «By Saturday morning, we expect temperatures to be about 1 to 4 degrees colder than Friday morning, with wind chills bringing the ‘feels like’ temperature down into the 30s in many locations north and west of Orlando.»

The region experienced a line of showers on Wednesday, which paved the way for a dry stretch from Thursday through the weekend. However, the cold front, which also prompted light rain in areas such as Satellite Beach, Melbourne, Palm Bay, and Micco, is expected to bring a noticeable decline in temperatures, starting Wednesday night.

As reported by Kellianne Klass, another meteorologist at WESH, «Seasonable air this afternoon will give way to the coldest air of the season starting tomorrow.» On Thursday, highs are set to drop to the upper 60s, and by Friday and Saturday, they are forecast to dip to the mid-60s. Morning temperatures from Friday will fall into the 40s, with a chill factor dropping perceived temperatures to the 30s in northern Central Florida.

A slight warming trend is anticipated to commence on Sunday as highs return to the 70s. By next week, daytime temperatures should be back to typical levels for this time of year, which are expected to be in the upper 70s.

Residents are advised to prepare for the cold snap by dressing warmly and keeping updated with weather information. The First Warning Weather team, including Chief Meteorologist Tony Mainolfi, Eric Burris, Kellianne Klass, Marquise Meda, and Cam Tran, will provide the latest weather updates on-air and online.
