Champai Soren Considers Joining BJP Amid Turmoil
In a surprising turn of events, former Chief Minister Champai Soren seems ready to leave the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and potentially team up with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Many have been buzzing about this possibility ever since he dropped his JMM title from his social media profile.
On August 18, 2024, Champai Soren arrived at the Delhi airport. When asked by reporters if he would be joining the BJP, he insisted he was only in the capital for personal reasons. However, this has not stopped speculation, especially after his recent meeting with BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Kolkata just the day before his Delhi visit.
Champai, who has served as a five-term MLA, has also made noticeable changes at home, removing the JMM flag from his ancestral house. His tumultuous journey began when Hemant Soren, the current Chief Minister, faced legal issues and had to resign, leaving Champai to temporarily step into the role. After Hemant was released from jail, Champai stepped down, leading to rising tensions between the two leaders.
In a heartfelt message, Champai expressed feelings of humiliation and disrespect from party leadership. He shared on X that after being sidelined at a key meeting where his programs were canceled, he felt forced to consider his future in politics.
Despite once being honored as the ‘Jharkhand Tiger,’ Champai revealed how deeply he felt betrayed, highlighting that he saw limited options moving forward: retirement, starting his own political outfit, or seeking a new alliance.
These events come in the lead-up to the Jharkhand Assembly elections, raising questions about the future of both Champai Soren and the JMM. The political landscape continues to shift as parties prepare for the upcoming challenges.
