Champai Soren’s Political Future in Jeopardy
There’s a lot of buzz in Jharkhand politics as former Chief Minister Champai Soren is rumored to be making a big move — possibly joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). On August 18, he landed in Delhi, sparking speculation about his political future.
In a recent post on social media, Champai suggested he might be leaving the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Many people noticed he has removed the JMM tag from his profile, which only adds to the chatter about his next steps.
Before arriving in Delhi, Champai met with Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Kolkata. When reporters asked him about joining the BJP, he only said he was in Delhi for personal reasons.
Despite being a five-term MLA and a senior party member, there’s a sense of disappointment. Champai openly expressed that he’s felt humiliated by the JMM leadership recently. He shared on social media that his programs were cancelled without notice and that he felt disregarded during critical moments.
Further adding to the drama, his previous role as Chief Minister didn’t just end quietly. After the current Chief Minister Hemant Soren was arrested in a money laundering case, Champai briefly stepped in as CM. Once Hemant got bail, he swiftly returned to power, leaving Champai in a tough spot.
Now, the JMM is left grappling with the fallout as Champai shares his feelings of insult and disappointment. Sources say he’s considering three paths: retiring from politics, forming a new party, or finding a partner in politics.
Champai, who has been a considerable figure in Jharkhand’s political landscape, referenced this tough decision as a potential new chapter in his life. He feels the weight of his commitment to the party and the people, and his public grievances have only intensified discussions around his next move.
