Chennai Auditor Arrested for Impersonating Bombay High Court Judge in Thoothukudi
The Thoothukudi SIPCOT police have apprehended a Chennai-based auditor for masquerading as a Bombay High Court Judge and causing turmoil at the District Police Office in Thoothukudi.
Reports suggest that an individual arrived at the District Police office on Tuesday in a vehicle and claimed to be a ‘Judge’ from the Bombay High Court to the receptionist, Mariammal. He insisted on meeting the Superintendent of Police but hesitated to provide any form of identification when asked by Mariammal, leading to a heated confrontation.
Upon receiving information from Mariammal, Sub-Inspector Sivakumar promptly responded and interrogated the stranger, later identified as Bhaskar, aged 57, residing in Karpagambal Nagar, Kottivaakkam, Chennai.
Further investigations unveiled that Bhaskar, accompanied by his associate Ramachandran from Coimbatore, had visited the Meignanapuram police station earlier. There, he coerced the Sub-Inspector under the pretense of being a ‘Judge’ to sway a case in favor of his companion. However, the Sub-Inspector remained steadfast in adhering to legal procedures, causing Bhaskar’s vexation.
Subsequently, Bhaskar’s attempt to push the matter by approaching the Thoothukudi SP under the guise of a Bombay High Court Judge led to his arrest on charges of impersonation. Alongside Bhaskar’s arrest, the authorities also impounded his vehicle in connection with the incident.
