Chicago Area Braces for Severe Weather as Tornado Warning Canceled in Wisconsin
The Chicago area is preparing for severe weather as a Tornado Warning has been canceled in southeast Wisconsin. ABC7 Chicago reports near record-high temperatures and potential severe storms on Saturday with concerns of damaging wind gusts and flooding.
Several counties in Illinois, including DuPage, Kane, and De Kalb, were under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings with a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and Flood Watch for various other counties until 1 a.m. Sunday.
Flash Flood Warnings were also issued for specific Illinois counties, highlighting the potential for widespread flooding in the region.
Storms are forecasted to move from Wisconsin towards Illinois, reaching the city by late evening, with the possibility of hitting Northwest Indiana by midnight. ABC7 Chicago Meteorologists, Jaisol Martinez and Phil Schwarz, are monitoring the situation closely.
Sunday is expected to be slightly cooler, with temperatures in the mid-80s and decreasing humidity throughout the day. However, extreme heat is predicted to return by Tuesday, potentially hitting the upper 90s before a notable temperature drop mid-week.
