The Club Deportivo Guadalajara, commonly known as Chivas, faced another setback in the Leagues Cup, ending up eliminated after a nail-biting match against LA Galaxy. The game finished 2-2 in regular time, leading to a tense penalty shootout which Chivas lost 5-4.

Things started off on the right foot for Chivas when Alan Mozo scored just eight minutes into the match. The team appeared confident after taking the early lead, but their inability to convert chances into goals haunted them throughout the game.

Just when Chivas supporters were celebrating, the LA Galaxy quickly equalized thanks to a goal from Joseph Paintsil. The Galaxy showcased a fantastic teamwork effort with a slick play, leaving Chivas defenders scrambling.

As the second half kicked off, the Galaxy took the lead with a goal from Gabriel Pec, leaving Chivas in a tough spot. However, they didn’t give up hope and pushed for an equalizer. Their persistence paid off in the dying moments of the match when Cade Cowell netted a last-minute goal, pushing the match into penalties.

The penalty shootouts saw Chivas get off to a hopeful start as their goalkeeper Tala Rangel saved an attempt from the Galaxy, bringing a glimmer of hope to the Guadalajara fans. Unfortunately, Chivas couldn’t maintain their momentum as Omar Govea hit the post on his shot.

In a dramatic twist, the Galaxy managed to score on their fifth penalty while Sepúlveda’s shot was saved by the Galaxy’s goalkeeper Novak Micovic, sealing Chivas’ fate in this year’s Leagues Cup.
