Christian Faithful Urged to Embrace Love on Fathers’ Day Celebration
Rev. Fr. Bernard Desben of the Missionary of St. Paul (MSP) has called on Christian faithful in Nigeria to embody love in their actions, mirroring the sacrificial love shown by Christ to the church.
Speaking during the Fathers’ Day celebration at St. Luke Catholic Chaplaincy in Gwagwalada, Abuja, Desben emphasized the significance of expressing love through deeds, as highlighted in the Gospel of John.
Desben reiterated that Christians must adhere to God’s commandment to ‘love one another,’ emphasizing that love requires tangible acts of charity.
Adding to the discourse, Most Rev. Fr. Augustus Essien (MSP), the Pioneer Priest of the Chaplaincy, congratulated the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) of the Chaplaincy and urged Christians to embrace and exude genuine love towards one another.
Essien expressed his prayers for the fathers to continue being the pillars of the church and encouraged their unwavering support for the church’s mission.
In his address, Dr. Ezekiel Alagboso, the President of CMO of the Chaplaincy, on behalf of the members, pledged to uphold the sanctity of fatherhood and cherish the invaluable gift of family as the domestic church.
Alagboso gave thanks for the blessings of fatherhood and the boundless love exemplified by the heavenly Father, offering prayers for divine guidance and blessings for all members in their various endeavors.
The event also featured awards presented to pioneer members, including the pioneer priest, commemorating the establishment of St. Luke Catholic Chaplaincy, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, in 1996 with Most Rev. Fr. Augustus Essien as the pioneer priest.
