A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable, Kulwinder Kaur, has been suspended following an incident at the Chandigarh Airport involving Bollywood actor and newly elected BJP Member of Parliament from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut.
The clash between Kaur and Ranaut stemmed from remarks made by the actor during the farmers’ protest in Punjab. Video footage captured Kaur stating that her mother was part of the protesters, in response to Ranaut’s comments about Punjabi women being paid to participate in the demonstrations.
Details reveal that Kaur, a 35-year-old constable hailing from Sultanpur Lodhi, Punjab, has been stationed at the Chandigarh Airport for the past two years. Her spouse is also a member of CISF, and her brother, Sher Singh, is an active member of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee.
The incident occurred as Ranaut was undergoing security checks at the airport. Ranaut alleged that Kaur approached her, struck her in the face, and verbally assaulted her. In a video statement post the altercation, Ranaut claimed that Kaur stated her support for the farmers’ protest as the reason for her actions.
Following the incident, Kaur was immediately suspended from her duties, and a panel has been established by CISF to investigate the matter further.
