City of Aiken Announces Independence Day Closures and Events

The City of Aiken has revealed its plans for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, including closures and events for residents and visitors alike.

All City of Aiken offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4th, in honor of Independence Day. Offices will resume normal operations on Friday, July 5th. Additionally, there will be no trash or recycling pickup on the 4th; instead, collections will be delayed until Friday, July 5th.

For those looking to stay active during the summer months, registration is opening soon for Water Aerobics classes at the Aiken Public Pool. These sessions are designed for individuals seeking low-impact exercises to enhance their overall well-being and will offer a refreshing way to alleviate pain.

If you’re interested in improving your swimming skills, adult swim lessons with instructor Andy Dyer will be available starting June 24th. These lessons will be conducted at the Aiken Public Pool, located at the Smith-Hazel Recreation Center on Kershaw St NE.

The Design Review Board of the City of Aiken will be convening on July 2nd at the Municipal Building on Chesterfield St S. The board will hold both a work session at 5:30 PM and a regular meeting at 6:30 PM. Written comments are encouraged for the regular meeting.

On July 8th, the Aiken City Council will hold a public meeting at the Municipal Building on Chesterfield St S. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM, with an Executive Session at 6:00 PM. The agenda for the City Council meeting will be available for public viewing.
