U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, a prominent figure in American politics, recently appeared on a CNN segment hosted by anchor Abby Phillip. The discussion revolved around strategizing against former President Donald Trump.

While Waters took a brief pause during the interview, a separate manipulated video surfaced on social media. This video misleadingly portrayed former CNN anchor Don Lemon seemingly laughing at Waters adjusting her attire, which led to accusations of mocking.

The voice in the video has been identified as commentary from a different source and not a CNN producer. In a separate context, Lemon was captured laughing on one of his previous shows during a light-hearted exchange about Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former Trump administration member.

Political commentator Symone Sanders-Townsend’s witty remarks about Newman’s attempt to rebuild her reputation elicited laughter from Lemon, providing the origin of the out-of-context clip interspersed with Waters’ interview moment.

Omarosa Manigault Newman gained notoriety for her time in the Trump administration and later participation in reality TV shows such as ‘Celebrity Big Brother.’
