Cold Coffee Prices Soar as Consumers Turn to DIY Options and Grocery Deals
Consumers are facing soaring prices for cold coffee drinks as they seek out more affordable options through do-it-yourself methods and grocery store deals. The trend of purchasing iced coffee at cafes and restaurants has led to a 7% increase in cold coffee orders, with prices averaging $5.14 for cold brew and $5.46 for lattes, according to data from Circana.
Despite the convenience of buying cold coffee on the go, many consumers are turning to retailers and convenience stores for more budget-friendly options. This shift has been highlighted by a 8% decrease in spending on iced coffee outside the home in the past year.
In response to the demand for at-home coffee solutions, companies like Nescafé and Keurig are introducing new products. Nescafé recently launched a cold-liquid-dissolvable coffee, priced at $7.39 per bottle, offering a more cost-effective alternative to purchasing individual drinks from cafes.
Keurig is also tapping into the at-home market with the upcoming release of the «K-Brew+Chill» machine, which promises to brew hot coffee and cool it down in three minutes or less. This shift towards DIY coffee solutions demonstrates a growing trend in consumers seeking more affordable options.
Smaller coffee operators like Buddy Brew Coffee have seen success in offering grocery items at stores like Whole Foods and Publix. With prices starting at $18 for a 12-ounce bag of coffee, Buddy Brew’s products provide a cheaper alternative to purchasing cold brew from cafes.
