Gulf Coast Cold Weather November 2024

ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida experienced an unexpectedly cold start to the weekend, with temperatures plunging into the low 50s on Friday morning, leaving some areas shivering in the 40s. The current weather pattern has brought clear, sunny skies, albeit accompanied by a brisk chill that is uncharacteristic for the region at this time of year. Only a minor warming is expected, with highs reaching the 60s during the day.

A cold front passing through Florida on Friday night is anticipated to further decrease temperatures, reducing overnight lows to the 30s in some locations. As the weekend progresses, Saturday’s highs are predicted to only reach the mid-60s, with persistent low temperatures dropping back into the 40s and 30s overnight.

Meanwhile, the Gulf Coast is experiencing similar conditions with cooler-than-average temperatures extending into the weekend. Jason Dunning, a meteorologist in the region, noted the rarity of such cold weather occurring this early in the season since temperatures have not been this low since February. «This weekend is starting off in the low to mid-50s, with some areas dipping into the 40s,» he stated.

The forecast for the Gulf Coast includes continued chilly mornings with temperatures dropping to the upper-40s, while daytime highs are expected to rise to the comfortable 70s. Sunshine will prevail, and the dry air will contribute to the crispness of the weather. A further decline is anticipated as the temperatures dip into the 40s in several inland neighborhoods, including Labelle and Palmdale, during the early morning hours of Saturday and Sunday.

Looking ahead to the following week, the Gulf Coast is expected to see a gradual warming trend. By Thanksgiving, temperatures are forecasted to rebound into the 80s, maintaining pleasant conditions throughout the day. Despite warmer afternoons, the mornings will remain relatively cool, sticking with the theme of sunny and dry weather.

The weather team, including Chief Meteorologist Allyson Rae and Meteorologist Jason Dunning, encourages residents to prepare for cooler conditions in the morning. They continue to provide regular updates on social media platforms and through their live broadcasts.
