Coleen Rooney Discusses Family Dynamics Amid ‘I’m A Celebrity’ Participation
Coleen Rooney, the television personality and wife of former footballer Wayne Rooney, has shared details of her family dynamics as she prepares to enter the jungle for the latest season of «I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!». The 38-year-old has been married to Wayne Rooney since 2008, and the couple shares four sons: Kai, 13, Klay, 10, Kit, seven, and Cass, five.
In an interview, Coleen Rooney discussed how her husband’s new role as manager of the Championship football team Plymouth Argyle complicates their family life. She explained, «Wayne comes back once a week, sometimes twice, depending on the fixtures. Usually, he has Sunday off so he might come home. He’ll come home on a Saturday evening and spend Sunday with us, depending on what the boys have got on.» The former Manchester United striker currently resides in Salcombe, Devon, a five-hour drive from the family’s home in Cheshire.
Despite the physical distance, Coleen emphasized her husband’s support of her decision to join the reality show, stating that he was the last person she contacted before her phone was confiscated. Rooney said, «I just checked on everything. So, it was just, ‘good luck’ – and I just wanted to see if the kids got off to school okay.»
Reports indicate that Coleen Rooney has secured a record-breaking deal for her participation in the jungle, with a fee surpassing that of previous contestants such as Nigel Farage and Noel Edmonds.
On the show, Rooney reflected on her early relationship with Wayne Rooney, whom she met at 12 years old but only began dating at 16. She recounted feeling embarrassed when Wayne, then an Everton player, would pick her up from school in flashy cars. Moreover, she shared a touching story about Wayne tattooing her name on his arm when he was just 17, showcasing his commitment to her early in their relationship.
Coleen Rooney also opened up emotionally about the loss of her sister Rosie, who passed away at 14 from Rett syndrome, a rare neurological disorder. She stated, «Even when Rosie died, I kept it together for me mum and dad… She was 14 when she died, she’d be 26 now. It’s hard to lose a child, I’ve always said that… so we’re lucky to have what we’ve got.»
Joining Rooney in the jungle are notable personalities such as Oti Mabuse, a professional dancer known for «Strictly Come Dancing,» and Danny Jones, a singer from the band McFly. Both are expected to bring their own unique flair to the competition.
