Colgate’s Abby Shadwick Named Patriot League Player of the Week
Colgate University‘s senior outside hitter, Abby Shadwick, has been named the Patriot League‘s Player of the Week, announced Monday. This accolade follows Shadwick’s outstanding performance during a decisive match against Bucknell University.
Shadwick played a crucial role in leading Colgate to a dramatic comeback win in a tightly contested five-set match, a victory that required a reverse sweep. She was instrumental in the team’s performance with a remarkable 21 kills, contributing significantly to the win. Her attack proficiency was exemplified by a .300 hitting percentage.
In addition to her offensive contributions, Shadwick showcased her defensive skills by adding 13 digs, resulting in her achieving a double-double for the match. Colgate’s performance in the final three sets was pivotal, especially in the tense fifth set where the team rallied from a 14-11 deficit in the first-to-15, win-by-two frame.
