American-Canadian comedian and writer Joe Flaherty, renowned for his work on the Canadian sketch-comedy show Second City Television (SCTV), has sadly passed away at the age of 82.

Flaherty, celebrated for his memorable characters like Count Floyd and newsman Floyd Robertson on SCTV, breathed life into these roles with his comedic brilliance.

One of Flaherty’s most iconic portrayals was that of Guy Caballero, the eccentric SCTV station manager who left a lasting mark on viewers.

His talent extended beyond SCTV, as he also featured in the popular show Freaks and Geeks and the Adam Sandler film, Happy Gilmore.

Earlier this year, concerns were raised about Flaherty’s health, prompting a fundraiser to support him, capturing the hearts of fans and colleagues.

Colin Mochrie, a fellow Canadian comedian, took to social media to express his condolences for the loss of Joe Flaherty, highlighting Flaherty’s exceptional comedic contributions and his warm personality. Mochrie reflected on the joy of collaborating with Flaherty and extended sympathy to the late comedian’s family and friends.
