Comedy Celebrities and Local Team Face Off in Charity Baseball Game
Comedy meets sports in an exciting showdown as the Big Bill de Coaticook team gears up to take on a star-studded lineup in the upcoming charity baseball event at Stade Julien-Morin. The brainchild of co-owner Philippe Laprise, the ‘Match des célébrités’ scheduled for June 1st promises to draw a large crowd.
Bravad, a sponsor of the event, will have notable personalities such as Pierre Hébert, Jean-Michel Anctil, and Maxim Martin on the lineup. More celebrity players are set to be revealed as the event approaches. Laprise expressed how easy it was to enlist their participation, citing their love for baseball and competitive spirit.
Laprise, who conceived the idea for the matchup last year, aims to raise funds not only for the Big Bill team but also for the local Coaticook Minor Baseball Association. With no specific fundraising target set for this inaugural event, Laprise emphasized the importance of giving back to support youth baseball in the community.
As a first-time initiative, the organizers view the ‘Match des célébrités’ as a significant accomplishment and a gesture of gratitude towards Coaticook residents who have long supported the team.
Additional initiatives like the ‘Match des familles’ are in the pipeline for later this season as Laprise’s creative ideas continue to evolve.
Tickets for the event, priced at $20 in advance, are already available for purchase on lepointdevente.com. The game is set to kick off at 1:00 PM, promising a fun-filled afternoon for all attendees.
In his second season as co-owner of the Big Bill de Coaticook, Laprise expressed pride in the team’s strong start to the season. He praised the player acquisitions and draft picks for boosting team morale and performance on the field, noting an exceptional enthusiasm within the team.
Laprise also highlighted a buzz of excitement building up in the stadium, indicating a rejuvenated interest in the team from the local community. He emphasized his ambition to restore the team’s reputation and ensure a competitive atmosphere at every game.
While a championship may not be on the horizon this year, Laprise remains optimistic about the team’s playoff prospects, hinting at a strong postseason performance.
