Congress party encountered significant setbacks in the regions of Indore and Surat as two of its candidates faced unexpected turns in their election campaigns.

In Indore, Congress candidate Akshay Kanti Bam made a surprising move by withdrawing from the nomination process and joining the rival party.

Madhya Pradesh minister and BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya publicly announced the shift, welcoming Bam into the saffron party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, national president JP Nadda, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and state president VD Sharma.

On the other hand, in Surat, the Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani encountered suspension for alleged ties with the BJP, leading to rejected nominations and invalidation of the substitute candidate’s nomination.

Kumbhani’s nomination was rejected after his proposers claimed their signatures were forged, and the subsequent candidate, Suresh Padsala, also faced disqualification on the same grounds, ultimately paving the way for BJP’s Mukesh Dalal to secure an uncontested victory.

These unexpected turns in the election scenario have put the Congress party on the defensive, raising eyebrows and speculation within political circles.

The TOI City Desk continues to monitor and report on these unfolding events that shape the political landscape while keeping the public informed and engaged.
