Corey Anderson has earned a spot in USA‘s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in a significant change that sees Unmukt Chand excluded from the team. Chand’s absence from the recent T20I series against Canada in April left his World Cup prospects uncertain. The selectors, led by USA skipper Monank Patel and vice-captain Aaron Jones, opted for Anderson’s inclusion following his return to international cricket after a six-year hiatus.
Representing New Zealand in the past, Anderson brings a wealth of experience with 93 appearances for the Blackcaps across various formats. The experienced pacer Ali Khan also features in the finalized squad, adding depth to USA’s bowling attack for the prestigious tournament set to kick off on June 1. The T20 World Cup, jointly hosted by the USA and West Indies, will witness Monank Patel at the helm once again as the team aims for a strong campaign.
USA Cricket’s Men’s National Selection Panel has strategically curated the squad, geared up not only for the T20 World Cup but also for the upcoming bilateral T20I series against Bangladesh. The series will take place in Houston, Texas, providing the team with crucial match practice and preparation ahead of the marquee event. The squad’s preparation includes fine-tuning their strategies and combinations under the leadership of Patel and Jones.
