B.C. Couple Found Dead in Boat Ashore on Sable Island
A tragic incident unfolded on the shores of Sable Island in Nova Scotia, as a man and a woman from British Columbia were discovered dead in a boat that had washed ashore. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) were alerted by Parks Canada after a smaller inflatable boat, about three meters in length, arrived on the island carrying the deceased couple.
The bodies are presumed to be those of a 60-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man from B.C. who had set off from Halifax on June 11. The boat appears to be a lifeboat from a larger vessel named Theros. The couple was reported missing on June 18 to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax as they were en route to the Azores archipelago in Portugal.
The Nova Scotia medical examiner service is currently working to officially identify the bodies and provide closure to the families involved.
