Court Orders Eviction of Emir Sanusi II from Kofar Kudu Palace in Kano
A Federal High Court in Kano has issued an order for the eviction of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from the iconic Kofar Kudu Palace, a prominent landmark in Kano State.
The order comes as another State High Court has intervened, restraining the police and security agencies from carrying out the eviction of the reinstated Emir Sanusi II.
In the Federal High Court ruling, Justice S. A. Amobeda granted an ex parte order directing the police to ensure that all rights and privileges due to the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, are upheld.
The order aims to maintain peace in Kano State and prevent any disruption to the traditional leadership structure.
Furthermore, the court ordered the police to avoid any actions that would infringe on the rights of the Emir pending the hearing and determination of the case.
The ongoing legal battle revolves around the rightful Emir of Kano, with conflicting claims between Aminu Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Simultaneously, a State High Court sitting in Miller Road has issued a restraining order against the police, DSS, and the military from evicting or intimidating Emir Sanusi II.
Justice Amina Aliyu presiding over the State High Court case, protected the Emir and his kingsmen from any unwarranted arrest or harassment.
The court’s decision aims to prevent any further tensions and maintain the status quo until the legal proceedings are complete.
Both court orders underscore the legal and traditional complexities surrounding the Kano Emirate and the need for a peaceful resolution to the succession dispute.
