Crew Upsets Miami in Leagues Cup Comeback
In an exciting match on Tuesday night at Lower.com Field, the Columbus Crew pulled off an impressive comeback against Inter Miami in the Leagues Cup, putting an end to Miami’s title defense.
Miami started strong, with Matías Rojas opening the scoring early in the first half. The team seemed in control when Diego Gómez doubled their lead with a beautiful shot into the far corner. Coach Gerardo Martino looked pleased as his team appeared to be cruising toward a quarterfinal spot.
However, the Crew, known for their resilience and excellent home play under coach Wilfried Nancy, had other plans. Christian Ramírez kicked off a stunning rally by scoring to tighten the game, and within minutes, they leveled the score with a second goal.
The tension rose as the Crew took the lead when one of their players managed to find the back of the net from a tricky angle, leaving Miami reeling. The final score ended up 3-2 in favor of the Crew, sending them into the quarterfinals.
For Miami, this defeat was disheartening, especially while they are still adjusting without their superstar, who is nursing an ankle injury.
