Cyndi Lauper Honored with Hand and Footprint Ceremony at TCL Chinese Theatre
Cyndi Lauper, the iconic pop star of the 1980s, was immortalized in concrete on Tuesday at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Lauper, known for hits like «Girls Just Want To Have Fun,» celebrated a career spanning over 40 years.
Grammy, Tony, and Emmy award winner, Lauper, was introduced by her longtime friend Cher at the event. The ceremony also had singer Bebe Rexha in honors for Lauper’s advocacy for women, marginalized communities, and LGBTQ+ rights.
The ceremony coincided with the premiere of the documentary «Let the Canary Sing,» now available for streaming on Paramount+. Last weekend, both Lauper and Rexha were part of the WeHo Pride Parade festivities.
Following the event, Lauper announced her upcoming farewell tour consisting of 23 North American dates. The tour includes a performance on November 23 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday on Live Nation’s website.
