Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day Supports Children’s Hospital
Today is a special day at Dairy Queen for those in need, as it marks the 34th Annual Miracle Treat Day. If you haven’t had a chance to participate yet, there’s still time to grab your favorite Blizzard and help support a good cause.
Jennifer Baxter, the Director of Community Relations & Children’s Miracle Network, described the day as one of the best of the year. «You get to go to a Dairy Queen store, order your favorite Blizzard and support children’s hospitals,» she said.
Marley Van Weezep will be one of the many children directly impacted by the funds raised. Marley relies on the Children’s Hospital for medical treatment, visiting every four weeks for blood transfusions due to a bone marrow condition that prevents her from producing red blood cells.
Her mother, Krista Van Weezep, expressed how grateful they are for the lively environment at the hospital, saying, “It’s much more fun for Marley to go when we have things like Oley the clown and all of the toys.”
Over the past 33 years, the partnership between Dairy Queen and Children’s Miracle Network has brought in over $2.15 million for programs, research, education, and equipment at the Children’s Hospital. This year, participating Dairy Queens generated an impressive $92,000 for the cause.
In Fort St. John, people can also join the festivities at Dairy Queen, where the 22nd annual Miracle Treat Day is happening at 123 locations across B.C. and the Yukon. Net proceeds from all Blizzard sales will benefit the BC Children's Hospital Foundation.
This countrywide effort has raised over $2 million in 2023 alone, with radio personality Kier White from Bounce FM joining the fun at the Fort St. John Dairy Queen from 3 PM to 7 PM today.
With a remarkable total of over $52 million raised for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals in the last 40 years, Dairy Queen continues to make a significant impact in the lives of children and families across Canada.
