Daisy Ridley Surprised by Return to Star Wars, Reveals Details of New Film

Actress Daisy Ridley, known for her portrayal of Rey in the Star Wars franchise, recently shared her surprise at being approached to reprise her iconic role.

During an episode of the ‘Smartless’ podcast, Ridley disclosed that a casual meeting with Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, turned out to involve discussions about another installment involving Rey.

Although thrilled about the opportunity, Ridley mentioned that she has currently signed on for one film only, leaving the door open for future projects.

«It’s very cool — different writer, different director. It will be quite a different feeling, I imagine,» Ridley shared with hosts of the podcast.

The upcoming movie, part of the new Star Wars trilogy set to kick off in 2026, was unveiled by Lucasfilm at the Star Wars Celebration event in 2023. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set to direct, with a script penned by Steven Knight.
