Dallas Cowboys Prepare for Changes in Offensive Roster as Ryan Flournoy Makes First Start
The Dallas Cowboys are actively adjusting their offensive lineup as they prepare for their Week 11 matchup against the Houston Texans. Despite a record of 3-6, the Cowboys are making strategic changes in response to injuries and upcoming games. Ryan Flournoy, a rookie wide receiver, will make his first NFL start in the primetime matchup.
Flournoy announced his starting debut on Instagram, marking a significant step for the sixth-round draft pick from Southeast Missouri State. The 25-year-old receiver has made two catches on three targets this season across five games, totaling 47 offensive snaps.
«Whether they should be tinkering or tanking probably depends on your personal point of view,» commented Nick Harris, a sports journalist. The Cowboys have faced a difficult season, dealing with injuries to key players such as quarterback Dak Prescott and veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks.
Prescott’s absence due to a hamstring injury prompted Cooper Rush to step in as quarterback. Rush’s performance, however, has been under scrutiny following a significant loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, highlighting issues in Dallas’ passing attack.
According to team reports, All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was recently listed on the injury report due to a back issue. While there remains optimism about Lamb’s potential return to play, his status remains uncertain.
With upcoming critical games, including a Thanksgiving Day matchup against the New York Giants, the Cowboys aim to explore their depth and test new strategies. «Everything right now is pointing for him to play,» noted a team representative regarding Lamb’s injury status.
Despite being first in pass attempts per game in the league (39.4), the Cowboys rank in the bottom ten for net yards per attempt at just 5.5, indicating ongoing struggles with efficiency in their passing game.
Earlier this season, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones compared Flournoy to a beloved former player, Dez Bryant, saying, «He’s got Dez Bryant stuff to him,» a testament to the high hopes held for the young wide receiver.
