Dallas Jenkins Announces Spin-offs for ‘The Chosen’ Series
The creator of the popular television series ‘The Chosen,’ Dallas Jenkins, has disclosed intriguing plans for expanding the series with multiple spin-offs. ‘The Chosen,’ a historical drama centered around the life of Jesus Christ and his disciples, has already completed four successful seasons. Jenkins, in a recent interview, provided the audience with forthcoming developments within the show’s universe.
According to Jenkins, a limited series titled ‘Joseph‘ is currently in the script development phase. This new project will delve into the biblical story of Joseph and is expected to be released before the seventh season of ‘The Chosen.’ Jenkins described the ‘Joseph’ series as part of the plan to expand the universe of ‘The Chosen.’ «So right now, we’re finishing up the final couple seasons of the current ‘Chosen.’ We’ve got a ‘Joseph’ limited series that we’re developing as a script that would come out probably before season seven of ‘The Chosen,’ » Jenkins stated.
Besides ‘Joseph,’ Jenkins outlined plans for another series named ‘The Book of Moses,’ which aims to tackle the story of Moses across three planned seasons. This series is set to begin after the completion of ‘The Chosen.’ «And then I’m going to take a nap for about six months,» Jenkins humorously remarked, «and then when I wake up, I’m going to be getting into ‘The Book of Moses,’ and that’s the show that we want to do next. So that’s going to be a three-season show that we’re excited about,» he added.
The anticipated timeline includes ‘The Chosen’ season 5 premiere in April 2025, followed by ‘The Chosen Adventures,’ an animated series intended for a younger audience. In parallel, ‘The Chosen in the Wild,’ a reality TV series hosted by Bear Grylls, is also in the works. These series will explore the storytelling from different angles, enhancing the thematic depth of ‘The Chosen.’
This strategic expansion closely mirrors the model used by widely successful franchises such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, indicating Jenkins’ aspirations to broaden the reach and influence of biblical storytelling through diverse television formats. The expected sequence will culminate with ‘The Book of Moses’ following the conclusion of ‘The Chosen’s’ final season.
