Dallas Mavericks’ Dereck Lively II Sidelined With Neck Sprain in Western Conference Finals Game 3 Victory
Dallas Mavericks rookie center, Dereck Lively II, was forced to sit out of Game 3 of the Western Conference finals due to a neck sprain sustained during a collision with Minnesota Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns.
The incident occurred in the second quarter when Lively, a standout from Duke University, was hit in the head by Towns’ knee while contesting a shot by Mike Conley.
Following the contact, Lively remained on the court, visibly shaken, before being assisted off the floor by teammates, including starting center Daniel Gafford.
Lively’s absence pressed Dwight Powell into action as the Mavericks faced Minnesota fiercely in the pivotal match.
