Dani Olmo Registered to Play for Barcelona After Transfer
Barcelona has successfully registered its new signing, midfielder Dani Olmo, with La Liga as of Tuesday. Olmo is anticipated to make his debut against Rayo Vallecano later today.
The Spanish midfielder’s registration was delayed due to Barcelona’s ongoing challenges in conforming to La Liga’s strict financial regulations regarding player signings. As a result, he was unable to participate in the club’s initial two La Liga matches.
In a series of moves to address this issue, Barcelona facilitated the return of Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City and loaned defender Clement Lenglet to Atletico Madrid. These actions have enabled the club to incorporate Olmo into its squad for the upcoming match.
Additionally, the long-term injury of defender Andreas Christensen, who is sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury, provided the Catalan club with increased financial flexibility under La Liga’s regulations.
Olmo recently played a pivotal role for the Spanish national team as they triumphed at Euro 2024 held in Germany, prior to his transfer to Barcelona for a reported fee of 60 million euros (approximately $67 million).
