Deerhurst Resort Supports Tegan & Sara Foundation with Matching Donations

Deerhurst Resort is extending its support to the Tegan and Sara Foundation by matching donations from their upcoming concert. The resort, known for hosting a variety of shows, including through its partnership with the Huntsville Festival Of The Arts, is aligning with the band’s mission of giving back to the LGBTQ+ community. As part of their fundraising efforts, Deerhurst Resort will contribute just like Tegan and Sara, donating $1 from each ticket sold at the concert happening on March 31st.

At the heart of this initiative is the Tegan and Sara Foundation, established by the band to improve the lives of LGBTQ+, women, and girls. The foundation has been providing crucial funding to grassroots organizations, activists, and communities that often do not receive significant support from major funding institutions. Since its inception in 2016, the TSF has impacted numerous LGBTQ+ community members through grants to over 100 different organizations across North America.

Recognizing the importance of addressing the socioeconomic and health disparities faced by LGBTQ+, women, and girls, Deerhurst Resort’s gesture to match donations emphasizes their commitment to raising awareness and supporting equality and justice. This move signifies a broader acknowledgment of the challenges these communities encounter and the ongoing collective effort required to create a more inclusive society.

The Director of Marketing for Deerhurst Resort, Marcie Juliao, shared that upon learning about the remarkable work of Tegan and Sara through their foundation, they were immediately motivated to join forces in giving back. The fundraising mechanism of donating $1 from each ticket sold, which has become a staple for the band, has been instrumental in funding the Tegan and Sara Foundation’s programming and support of various LGBTQ+ causes.
