Delhi and Noida Schools Receive Bomb Threats, Evacuations Ensue
More than 80 schools in Delhi and over two schools in Noida were targets of a bomb threat via email on a hectic Wednesday morning, leading to swift evacuations. Concerned parents swarmed the school gates as the Ministry of Home Affairs indicated that the emails seemed to be a hoax.
Delhi Police, in response to numerous distress calls, promptly examined all schools that had received the threatening emails only to establish they were false alarms.
Bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, and personnel from Delhi Fire Service hurried to schools after the inflow of bomb threat alerts began.
Among the affected schools were branches of Delhi Public School (DPS) in Dwarka and Vasant Kunj, Mother Marry School in East Mayur Vihar, Sanskriti School, Amity School in Pushp Vihar, and DAV School in South West Delhi. Not to be left out, DPS and Apeejay School in Noida also faced similar threats.
When the threat was received, the school buildings were promptly evacuated and students were escorted home, said sources familiar with the matter. The Principal of DPS Noida issued a statement expressing the need for immediate dismissal of students following the email threat.
