Delta Air Lines Partners with Shake Shack for In-Flight Gourmet Burger Experience
Delta Air Lines has announced a partnership with Shake Shack to introduce gourmet cheeseburgers on select flights, beginning December 1, 2024. This collaboration marks a unique venture between the esteemed airline and the popular burger chain, promising to redefine the in-flight dining experience for first-class passengers.
The initial rollout of this partnership will occur on flights departing from Boston, catering to routes that are over 900 miles long. Only travelers seated in the first-class cabin will have the option to pre-select the Shake Shack Cheeseburger as part of their meal service. This offering will be available through the Fly Delta app or via an email link, which passengers can access up to seven days before their flight, allowing them to make or edit their entrée choice 24 hours before departure.
Stephanie Laster, Managing Director of Onboard Service at Delta, explained the choice behind the collaboration: «A delicious cheeseburger is an iconic comfort food – our customers know that, which is why burgers are one of the top ordered menu items we offer, and we’re thrilled to elevate the offering with Shake Shack.» The burger, crafted from 100% Angus beef and served on a toasted potato bun, will be accompanied by a Caesar salad, chips, and a dark chocolate brownie.
Michael Kark, President of Global Licensing at Shake Shack, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, «At Shake Shack, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to meet our guests where they are, even at 35,000 feet. Taking our beloved cheeseburger to new heights, Shake Shack is proud to partner with Delta as we elevate the in-flight dining and hospitality experience for travelers across the country.»
In addition to the culinary offering, Delta plans to expand this partnership to other U.S. markets throughout 2025. However, there has been no confirmation on whether these gourmet options will eventually be available to main cabin passengers.
This in-flight dining initiative aligns with Delta’s ongoing efforts to enhance the customer experience, which includes refreshing its seasonal wine program and introducing new snacks and meals developed with award-winning chefs.
