Demolition of N-Convention Centre Initiated by Officials in Hyderabad
In a significant enforcement action, officials began the demolition of the N-Convention Centre in Madhapur on Saturday morning, August 24, 2024. This decision comes amid allegations that the structure was built within the Full Tank Level of the Tummidikunta Lake.
The N-Convention Centre, owned by actor and producer Nagarjuna Akkineni along with Nalla Preetham, has faced criticism for its location, which has reportedly contributed to frequent flooding in nearby areas such as the 100-feet road and Ayyappa Colony.
As demolition commenced, security measures were heightened, with authorities implementing a cordon around the area to ensure the operation proceeded smoothly. By 11 a.m., substantial portions of the structure had already been taken down.
The N-Convention Centre was promoted as a versatile venue capable of hosting a variety of events, featuring a main hall of 27,000 square feet that accommodated up to 3,000 guests, in addition to a 26,000 square feet open-air venue named Banyan.
Previous complaints had been lodged regarding the construction of the centre, asserting that it encroached upon around 3.5 acres of land. Despite earlier warnings about potential actions against the property, no measures had been taken until now.
