Denver Broncos Draft Oregon Quarterback Bo Nix with 12th Pick in 2024 NFL Draft
The Denver Broncos made a significant move in the 2024 NFL Draft by selecting Bo Nix, the standout quarterback from Oregon, with the 12th overall pick. Nix, who was the 2023 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year and a Heisman Trophy finalist, joins the Broncos as a potential franchise quarterback.
Boasting impressive stats from his final season at Oregon, Nix completed 77.4% of his passes for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. His leadership on the field led the Ducks to a 12-2 record.
Originally starting his collegiate career at Auburn, Nix transferred to Oregon for the 2022 season. During his time with the Ducks, he shattered records with a remarkable touchdown-to-interception ratio and set a new NCAA single-season completion percentage record.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 214 pounds, Nix brings a combination of size, accuracy, and playmaking ability to the Broncos. His success at Auburn earned him accolades such as SEC Freshman of the Year and showcases his adaptability and skill as a quarterback.
The Broncos’ decision to draft Nix marks a significant investment in their future at the quarterback position. With other quarterbacks like Jarrett Stidham, Zach Wilson, and Ben DiNucci on the roster, Nix adds depth and competition to the team’s quarterback room.
Head Coach Sean Payton had indicated the need to draft a quarterback leading up to the draft, and the selection of Nix fulfills that objective. Nix becomes the fifth quarterback drafted in the first round by the Broncos in their history, joining notable names like Jay Cutler.
