Derby County’s Talented Keeper Heads to Kettering Town on Loan
Exciting news from the world of sports as young goalkeeper Jack Thompson has officially joined Kettering Town on loan. The talented shot-stopper from Derby County is heading to the Southern League Premier Division Central side for a month-long stint, aiming to gather some invaluable experience in senior men’s football.
Thompson made the move recently, linking up with Kettering just last weekend, and already got to strut his stuff in a friendly match against Lye Town. Having been a part of the Derby County family since he was just eight years old, this loan opportunity is a significant step in his career.
Before heading out on loan, the 17-year-old had a solid pre-season with Paul Warne’s first team, sharing training sessions and a week-long warm-weather camp in Spain alongside senior goalkeeper Josh Vickers and Goalkeeping Coach Andy Warrington. It’s clear that he’s been working hard to make his mark.
Thompson was a regular fixture for Derby’s Under-21s last season, and he even secured his first professional contract, which will keep him with the club until the summer of 2026. This year got even better as he received his first England Under-18s call-up early in 2024, wrapping up a successful individual season.
