Detroit Red Wings Aim to Rebound Against San Jose Sharks
The Detroit Red Wings are set to conclude their California road trip with a matchup against the San Jose Sharks on Monday evening. Following disappointing performances in their first two games in the Golden State, the team is determined to end the tour positively. The Red Wings initially lost their lead against the Anaheim Ducks last Friday, followed by a lackluster game against the Los Angeles Kings, where they were defeated 4-1 after being outshot by a margin of 40-18.
Currently, the Red Wings have experienced a downturn in form, having lost four of their last five games. Within this span, their only victory has been over the Pittsburgh Penguins, placing them at a precarious seventh position in the Atlantic Division. They are currently just one point ahead of the Montreal Canadiens, who are at the bottom of the division standings.
On the other hand, the San Jose Sharks are in the midst of an extended rebuilding phase. Nonetheless, there is growing optimism around the team, with emerging talent such as Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith becoming integral parts of the roster. Although the Sharks faced a setback with an early-season injury to Celebrini, they have shown signs of improvement earlier this month, despite losing their last three games. The Sharks are tied for last place in the Pacific Division alongside the Ducks.
This meeting will mark the first of two face-offs between the Red Wings and the Sharks this season. In the previous season, the teams split their regular-season series. As of now, the Detroit Red Wings have a record of 7-9-1 while the San Jose Sharks stand at 5-10-4. The game will take place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, with a scheduled start time of 10:30 p.m. ET. Fans can catch the live broadcast on the Fan Duel Sports Network Detroit.
