Deutsche Bank, Teach First Deutschland, and GermanDream Launch ‘Dialog Leben’ Project to Promote Democratic Values in Schools
At a critical juncture where societal challenges like racism, populism, and social disparities are on the rise, initiatives promoting democratic values are gaining importance. Deutsche Bank, along with Teach First Deutschland and GermanDream, has initiated the ‘Dialog Leben’ project aimed at fostering democratic values in schools situated in less privileged areas.
The collaborative project, ‘Dialog Leben’, is a testament to the commitment of Deutsche Bank to promoting democratic values in the education sector. Through this project, students in underprivileged schools will be taught about the significance of tolerance, freedom, equal opportunities, and pluralism, encouraging them to advocate for these principles.
‘Dialog Leben’ revolves around ‘dialogues on values’, where students engage in open discussions on societal values. The project ensures that all participants, including the facilitators, are equals in these workshops, emphasizing experiential learning and political education.
The project will be brought to fruition by Teach First ‘fellows’, individuals with university degrees dedicating two years to fostering equal opportunities and quality education in schools. With the assistance of GermanDream, these ‘fellows’ will receive training to conduct workshops aimed at reaching 750 students by the year-end and an additional 1,000 students by 2025.
Deutsche Bank’s ‘Dialog Leben’ project is part of its CSR education program that reached over 590,000 students in 2023, aligning with the bank’s commitment to combatting intolerance and hate speech. The bank collaborates with organizations like ZWEITZEUGEN e.V. in Germany, which educates young individuals on Holocaust history and the fight against antisemitism and discrimination.
ZWEITZEUGEN e.V., since its establishment in 2010, has impacted nearly 30,000 children and teenagers through workshops and digital storytelling platforms, reinforcing the importance of being secondary witnesses against prejudice and discrimination.
