Drake Announces Collaborative Album with PartyNextDoor
Drake surprised his fans during a recent concert at PartyNextDoor’s Party and Friends show in Toronto. He dropped the exciting news that he’s been working on a collaborative album with his fellow OVO labelmate, PartyNextDoor, and it could be coming out this fall.
At the end of the show, Drake shared, “I know all you girls are outside and when it gets a little chilly, PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be waiting right there for you,” hinting that the album would drop as the weather starts to cool.
During the set, Drake performed some older tracks like “Sweeterman,” which had leaked back in 2015 but was never fully released. He also treated the crowd to songs such as “Finesse,” “Redemption,” and “Come and See Me,” showcasing both his hits and collaborations.
It’s been a quieter few months for Drake, especially following his beef with Kendrick Lamar, which saw some intense exchanges leading up to a somewhat quiet summer. Despite Lamar’s recent success with “Not Like Us,” Drake’s appearance felt like a special moment for his loyal fans.
This show stood out as well since it was a full set of R&B tracks, something Drake noted he hadn’t done before. He vibed with songs like “Practice” from his album Take Care and “Connect” from Nothing Was the Same, demonstrating his versatility and strong baseline of hits.
As a nod to the Caribbean Carnival happening that weekend, he wore a tank top referencing Caribana ’99. This concert felt different from his traditional OVO Fest, focusing more on personal showcase and deeper cuts from his long career.
Drake invited Roy Woods on stage for a performance of their duet “Drama,” further highlighting the community within his label. He praised PartyNextDoor multiple times, calling him his favorite R&B singer and credited him for influencing his sound.
With this new album on the horizon, fans can expect to hear more of Drake’s softer side and R&B vibes soon.
