British tennis sensation Jack Draper‘s quest for a consecutive ATP Tour title at the prestigious cinch Championships came to a thrilling yet heartbreaking end in a tightly contested quarter-final match against American player Tommy Paul.

Having recently claimed a significant victory over top seed and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, Draper was riding high on momentum, sparking hopes amongst British tennis enthusiasts for a first British singles triumph at Queen’s Club since the legendary Andy Murray in 2016.

However, facing a formidable opponent in the form of world No.13 Paul, Draper found himself in an intense battle that ultimately culminated in a 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 defeat.

Reflecting on the match, Draper acknowledged Paul’s exceptional performance, commenting on the challenging conditions and the mental and physical toll of his recent packed schedule.

The 22-year-old rising star has been on a whirlwind journey, ascending to British No.1, clinching his maiden ATP title in Stuttgart, and earning a spot to represent Great Britain at the upcoming Olympic Games.

Despite falling short in the quarter-finals, Draper’s recent accomplishments have showcased his potential to compete with the world’s elite players as he gears up for Wimbledon, where he will make his debut as a seeded player.

Meanwhile, in the doubles event at the cinch Championships, British pair Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram faced a tough challenge against Neal Skupski and Michael Venus, with Skupski and Venus emerging victorious in a closely contested quarter-final match.

Skupski and Venus are now set to battle reigning champions Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek for a spot in the men’s doubles final.
