Edinburgh Marathon Winners Crowned in Annual Race

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival announced the champions of this year’s marathon race in the Scottish capital. The event drew thousands of participants who embarked on the 26.2-mile course starting from Edinburgh’s old town and extending along the East Lothian coast.

Claiming victory in the men’s event was Moray Pryde, representing the Lothian Running Club, with a remarkable time of two hours, 23 minutes, and 14 seconds. For the women’s race, Johanna Oregan of the St Neots Riverside Runners secured first place, crossing the finish line in two hours, 48 minutes, and 22 seconds.

The runners-up included Tom Charles from the Chorlton Runners who finished second in the men’s category with a time of 02:23:57, and Lianne Milner of the Cheshire Dragons who took second place in the women’s race clocking in at 02:53:54. The third positions were secured by Jack Blaiklock from the Thames Hare and Hounds for the men and Laura Berns for the women, whose club affiliation was not mentioned.

Other notable performances came from the Fife Athletic Club’s Jenny Selman, emerging victorious in the women’s half marathon with a time of 01:19:55, and Sean Chalmers of the Aberdeen Amateur Athletic Club, clinching the top spot in the men’s half marathon with a fast time of 01:05:29.

The annual Edinburgh Marathon Festival encompasses various races, including relays, 10km and 5km runs, as well as children’s events, making it a diverse and inclusive celebration of running in Scotland.
