Edmonton Oilers Add Josh Brown to Roster in Offseason Signing
The Edmonton Oilers have made an offseason move to bolster their defense by adding Josh Brown from the Arizona Coyotes. Brown, a hard-nosed right-shot defenseman known to Oilers‘ coach Kris Knoblauch from their time in the OHL, brings a physical presence to the team.
Brown, a former Memorial Cup winner with Oshawa, has experience playing against top talent like Connor McDavid during his time in the OHL with Erie. With Arizona last season, Brown played significant minutes on both even strength and penalty kill units.
Meanwhile, Vincent Desharnais, a key penalty-killing defenseman for the Oilers, will be heading to the market due to roster constraints. Desharnais, known for his improvement and strong play, had been a critical presence on Edmonton’s PK unit.
As the offseason progresses, the Oilers are also considering options like Jeff Skinner in their efforts to build a competitive roster for the upcoming season. Additionally, players like Philip Broberg and Cody Ceci are expected to play key roles in the team’s defensive lineup.
With the recent signings of Arvidsson, C. Brown, and J. Brown, the Oilers are strategically managing their salary cap to build a balanced roster ahead of the new season. The addition of players like Josh Brown will provide depth and stability to the defensive lineup.
