Ekiti State Governor Urges Nigerians to Pray for Peace during Eid-el-Kabir Celebrations
The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on Nigerians to utilize the festive period to intensify prayers for the nation’s recovery from its current challenges. Oyebanji, in a message to Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its hurdles.
He urged citizens not to relent in supplications for the country at this crucial point in its history. The governor, through his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, also beseeched Muslim pilgrims embarking on this year’s Hajj to pray for peace, progress, and prosperity in Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
As Muslims celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival, Oyebanji congratulated them and encouraged them to embrace the values of love and sacrifice emblematic of the season. He wished for a celebration characterized by moderation, reflection on the festival’s teachings, and a demonstration of kindness towards one another.
Reflecting on the significance of the sacrifice exemplified by the festival, the governor urged Muslim adherents to uphold the virtues of Islam and draw inspiration from Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah’s will, as seen in his readiness to sacrifice his son Ishmael as instructed by God.
Oyebanji commended the Muslim community in Ekiti for their unwavering support through prayers, guidance, and solidarity. He pledged to uphold inclusivity and continue engaging with religious groups to foster development and prosperity in the state.
Emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in building a peaceful and harmonious state, the governor thanked Muslims for promoting coexistence with people of diverse faiths. He reiterated his commitment to making Ekiti a model state renowned for shared prosperity and individual fulfillment.
