Elon Musk’s Daughter Speaks Out: A Journey of Identity and Controversy
In a revealing interview with NBC News, Vivian Jenna Wilson, the transgender daughter of Elon Musk, shared her experiences of growing up with an absent and often unkind father. At just 20 years old, Wilson is stepping into the spotlight for the first time, responding to her father’s recent comments about her gender identity.
Musk made headlines when he claimed that Wilson was “not a girl” and suggested that he had been “tricked” into consenting to her transgender medical treatment when she was just 16. However, Wilson is adamant that her father’s claims are not true. She stated emphatically, “He was not by any means tricked. He knew the full side effects.”
In her address to the media, Wilson described her father as cold and quick-tempered, recalling how he pressured her to act more masculine throughout her childhood. “He was constantly yelling at me viciously because my voice was too high,” she recounted, highlighting the emotional toll these experiences took on her.
Wilson revealed that she had not spoken to Musk in about four years and expressed her desire to carve a path defined by her own choices. “I am an adult. I am 20 years old. I am not a child,” she asserted, declaring her independence from her father’s narrative.
During the interview, Wilson addressed Musk’s comments about her childhood, asserting that he was hardly present in her life. “He was there, I want to say, maybe 10% of the time. That’s generous,” she stated, portraying a stark contrast between a supportive parent and the reality she experienced.
Wilson came out as gay in eighth grade and later as transgender at 16. Her mother, Justine Musk, provided her with the support she needed, especially during the pandemic when Wilson found an opportunity to step away from Musk’s harsh criticisms.
As Musk continues to make controversial statements regarding transgender rights, Wilson feels compelled to speak out against the narratives he has constructed. She commented on the challenges she faced in receiving approval for her medical treatment, sharing her frustrations about needing to prove her mental health struggles to gain access to care.
