Elon Musk Proposes Meeting with Alex Soros to Foster Dialogue
In a recent development, business magnate Elon Musk has expressed his interest in meeting with Alex Soros, the Chairman of the Open Society Foundations, to better understand his goals. This overture comes despite Musk’s previous criticisms of Alex’s father, George Soros, a financier known for his progressive advocacy.
Musk, who holds a position within President-elect Donald Trump’s advisory circle, made the proposal via his social media platform X, following a post by Soros. In his message, Soros argued against Trump’s claim to a significant mandate, pointing out that the election contest was tight. Musk replied, signaling he was «curious to meet and understand your goals better.» Soros responded positively, stating, «I often learn most from people whose views are different than my own. Open to meeting.»
The exchange comes in a politically charged atmosphere. On November 5th, Trump did not win the majority of votes cast, although he still led by over two million votes against Vice President Kamala Harris, counting the Electoral College in his favor. Alex Soros has notably criticized Trump’s policy choices, such as the proposal to appoint Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the Secretary of Health and Human Services, describing it as a risky move in the event of another pandemic.
Musk’s interactions with the Soros family are not new. Last year, he compared George Soros to Magneto, a fictional villain from the X-Men series, in a statement which accused the financier of «hating humanity» and attempting to undermine societal structures. Musk’s remarks on this issue were discussed during a podcast appearance with Joe Rogan, where he condemned Soros’ influence in supporting district attorneys with progressive views, whom he blamed for rising crime rates.
Reactions on X, Musk’s social media platform, were mixed. Some users criticized the planned meeting, likening Soros to a comic book villain, while others urged Musk to avoid engaging with Alex Soros. Conversely, proponents praised Musk’s willingness to engage in dialogue with someone from a different ideological standpoint.
There remains substantial public interest in the outcome of a Musk-Soros meeting, given the influence both have in their respective spheres. The Post has attempted to reach out to Musk and Soros for further comments on a potential meeting, though responses are still pending.
