The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a warning regarding security concerns related to ongoing protests tagged #EndBadGovernance across the country.

As a result of the anticipated protests, the embassy has canceled all visa appointments scheduled for August 1 and 2, 2024.

The US Embassy in Abuja and the one in Lagos will only operate with essential personnel on those days, advising other staff members to work from home to avoid any potential violence arising from the demonstrations.

The warning indicates that protests are expected to begin in various locations in Abuja and Lagos, with the possibility of spreading to other towns.

The embassy has cautioned about the likelihood of roadblocks, traffic congestion, and potential violence during the protests.

Additionally, there are concerns that militant groups could exploit the protests to carry out attacks.

Americans in Nigeria have been urged to steer clear of protest sites, stay vigilant, follow the news, and be prepared for any eventualities.
