U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg were featured on CBS Detroit‘s Michigan Matters, where they delved into various crucial topics. Granholm touched on the evolving timeline for Electric Vehicles (EVs), noting the prevailing popularity of hybrids compared to full electrics as the government continues to expand charging infrastructure.

Buttigieg emphasized the significance of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, a project aimed at bolstering trade and travel between Detroit and Canada, its largest trading partner. He also highlighted the allocation of $60 million federal funds to aid in the rehabilitation of the roadway at Detroit Wayne County Airport, with similar funding earmarked for Lansing and Grand Rapids.

Moreover, Buttigieg shared insights on the massive collaboration involving 56 federal and local agencies to swiftly reopen the Baltimore Port within 100 days post a cargo ship incident that led to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Buttigieg, now a Michigan resident alongside his husband Chasten and their twin 3-year-olds residing near Traverse City, reflected on his new surroundings and the local infrastructure projects impacting the state.

Michigan Matters, airing at a new time slot of 5:30 a.m. Sundays on CBS Detroit and noon on Detroit 50 WKBD, provides a platform for impactful discussions led by the 13-time Emmy-winning host, Carol Cain.
